Artist's Comments

I think its interesting and somewhat sad that the soldiers fighting for the people of Iraq know so little about them.

I resized the photo down to 1500x619, so hopefully you won't have to scroll so much to see the full image.

The guy in the Yankees hat is from India. I went back and consulted my notes after talking w/ =bluequantum

Good photo as usual, but it would be better if the image size wasnt so big. I have a 1280x1024 and its still huge for me! Try making the image fit inside peoples screens :)

Thanks, I was working to get that empty chair in there. I don't know why, but it needed to be there (well that and it would have cut that guys arms off if I hadn't)

The seperation of the American soldiers and the Iraqi people is very clear in your photo. Even though they see and probably interact with each other every day, this picture shows how little they actually know about the other's culture. Very emotional photograph. As for the empty chair, I think it shows that the soldier could very easily have sat next to the others, but chose to sit away form them. Very deserving of a :+fav:

You would be surprised the amount of soldiers who have not interaction with the Iraqi people, and when they have the chance there is a lot of mixed feelings and fear on both sides to strike up a conversation. Thanks for the Fav! ;)
