Artist's Comments

I think its interesting and somewhat sad that the soldiers fighting for the people of Iraq know so little about them.

I resized the photo down to 1500x619, so hopefully you won't have to scroll so much to see the full image.

The guy in the Yankees hat is from India. I went back and consulted my notes after talking w/ =bluequantum

It is a terrific picture. There is a diversity even in the four Iraqi people. Love the bare foot. The contrast (in several contexts) tells a lot of stories.

Why is enough not enough for those that have enough

I think its interesting to see what they are all looking at, some at the camera, the barefoot one is looking at the soldier and the soldier is looking off the photo. I think the guy with the Yankees hat is actually from India. I had a chance talk to them for a moment after taking the photograph

they look like people from different planets... scray their actually is so much visible difference.. Just makes a remeber how far we are growng apart. Excellent Compostion. Note to the Yankees hat on the Iraqi. :)

I love the photograph, and the story it tells. There's an obvious barrier between the iraqis and the soldiers, some imagined (fear, uncertainty, etc) and some real. (language, etc) I especially am interested in the faces, as the iraqis seem cheerful and comfortable, while the soldier seems stressed and tired, while he is the one holding the gun.

the contrast to the scene is great, with the seperation of the soldier and the locals, the expresions, the fact that the soldier is armed...but even so, they all have that laid back chilled sort of feel of WTF *l*

There's definately a feeling of WTF because neither the soldier or the iraqi's no what the other is doing. They both just happen to be in the same place at the same time, but they are all crowded into the little bit of shade offered by the building.
