Artist's Comments

I think its interesting and somewhat sad that the soldiers fighting for the people of Iraq know so little about them.

I resized the photo down to 1500x619, so hopefully you won't have to scroll so much to see the full image.

I love this shot...first, it's in black and white which I haven't seen a lot of in photos from Iraq. It works beautifully for this photo. The composition is lovely and the moment you caught is perfect. No one looks like they're going to move or start up a conversation any time soon and yet there is so much going on in the photo. I like how the man next to the empty chair is looking at the soldier (or at least in his direction) and how the soldier himself appears to be staring into space, almost daydreaming.
Great title as well. :p

Good photo--it brings out thought when there are those who wouldn't otherwise think.

Is that you sitting the corner or someone else?

Its true. The only way we can get to know the people is through our interpreters. Congrats on leaving this nightmare place. I'm leaving in like a month. But I'm stationed in Germany, no states for me :(

Great shot. Though I may be biased, as I've been sitting in that SPC's seat all too many times.
