Why murder Happens....

My unit is undergoing a change over with a replacing unit, so I can go home. A couple of days ago, one of the new Public Affairs guys dropped my hard-drive. Don't ask my why he had it out of my desk, why he was using it at all, or why he does anything. Well this ass-goblin destroyed my entire portfolio of photos! All my photograhy from a year in Iraq GONE! Destroyed by someone's carelessness! The only photo work that I have to show for an entire year in Iraq is the photos on dA! That means I've only lost like 300 additional photos... (note sarcasm)
At this point I'm trying to salvage data from the hard drive using a recovery program, but the future doesn't look bright.
****
Just so no one asks why I didn't have a back-up this is why. I had all the photos stored on the internal hard drive on my computer and a back up on my Maxtor portable drive... I was ordered to remove all my data from the computer and put it on the hard-drive so we could hand over the computer to the incoming unit... so I did remove all my work from the computer... then the bastard dropped my portable hard-drive.

Combat-Camer is UP

~Combat-Camera

I finally finished the DVD for the task force and now have some free time on my hands, so the ~Combat-Camera site is up and running. For anyone who is new, ~Combat-Camera is a group for U.S. Military (Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, Coast Gaurd, Active, Reserve, National Gaurd)

I could use some help with the group. If you are interested, in becoming admin for ~Combat-Camera visit the site and drop me a note.

I'm open for ANY suggestions for improvements or future ideas, so please pass on the knowledge.

Also looking for a design for the stamp/thumbnail picture members can tack on to the bottom of their journals to show they are members.

dA Group for U.S. Military

As soon as I get done with the Task Force's DVD I'll build the group. I've only got like 1,000 more DVDs to handle and I'll be through with this life-sucking demon project of the desert. Oh Yeah, I go home in less than a month.

DoDdA

There it is! I finally had some time to work on that dA Group logo (read below journals) I've just added it to my page to get some feedback and to see what ya'll think, I'll take it off my page and put it up on the dA Group for U.S. Service Members whenever it gets up and running. Tell me what you think.

I've gotten some comments from people interested in the Military Service Member dA Group. I've been trying to come up with a name and it came to me last night while laying in my cot. DoDdA which stands for Department of Defense deviantARt. What do you think? High-speed, or silly?
I was also thinking of creating a dev icon modeled after the MLB logo and the ESDJCO logo. As in having the silohuette (sp?) of a soldier with a camera in between two fields of tan and brown... I'm still working on it.
If you have any ideas or are interested send me a smoke signal or two.

Service Member dA Group

I've been passing this idea around to a couple of people and just thought I would put this up in a journal. I've been thinking about creating a dA Group for U.S. Military who are part of the community. Marines, Airforce, Navy, and Army dA members could use the group to find other service members and the Group could also have featured artist with photographs or work depicting all walks of military life. The Group could also serve as a place where all dA commuity members could access photos from Iraq, Afganistan, or any other area of operation. It would be open to all service members (active, reserve, retired) but particulary the combat cameras (25v) graphic designers (25m) photo-journalists (46Q) and Video-Journalist (46R).
The Group would NOT have a political agenda, it would be much like the DVIDS network and MILPHOG. If you'd like to be involved or have ideas to help out sent me a note or comment or smoke signals, etc...
